About Us

Liztino Center for Children with Special Needs (LCCSN) is a newly established non-profit, non-governmental and non-partisan organisation situated at Adenta SDA in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The NGO has been operating since 2020.

LCCSN was set up in response to the increasing prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the world as a whole. Available statistics for 2020 indicates that out of every 10,000 children, 372 develop ASD in Hong Kong, 263 in South Korea and 222 in the United States of America. Source: www.statista.com

Though no statistics is available for Ghana, there are increasing number of children with ASD in our schools, special schools and a number of diagnoses at various assessment centers and medical facilities.  In view of this increasing ASD ptevalent worldwide, LCCSN was set up to focus on the following;

  • Create awareness of the increasing rate of ASD and help society identify symptoms of ASD to facilitate early intervention.
  • To apply a therapy that will help naturally recover children with ASD.
  • To offer advise on diet that should be avoided to facilitate recovery of children with ASD.

By focusing on the above, we believe to promote early identification of children with ASD for early intervention that will the children recover and grow as health and independent adults. The overall intention is to eventually make society better.

The vision of LCCSN is to assist children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) naturally recover and grow up to become independent healthy adults.

The mission and activities of LCCSN shall include but not limited to the following:

  • Create awareness of the existence of autism and the increasing number of children who develop the condition.
  • Train parents, caregivers and teachers to easily identify children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in order to give them the needed support.
  • Advice parents and caregivers on the kind of food that are healthy for children with ASD.
  • Apply a Liztino therapy to naturally recover children with ASD.
  • Help children with ASD gain acceptance and support from society and people in their respective environments.
  • Partner with governments to create room for the educational sector to provide facilities to also accommodate the needs of children with ASD.

We focus on activities that will help in early identification of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) for early intervention so as to recover the children to enable them grow up to become independent healty adults. The areas of our focus include;

LCCSN undertakes a number of activities throughout the year. This ranges from a touch based therapy for naturally recovering the children from ASD, training, advocacy, Liztino Show and cycling trip by children naturally recovered from ASD. Some of the main programmes are as follows:

WHAT WE DO

Touch Based Therapy

Deep Touch Pressure Therapy is used to alleviate some of the symptoms that come with sensory processing difficulties. Deep pressure can help calm children with autism who experience hyper- or hypo-sensitivity. Sensory processing difficulties come in many shapes and forms

Physical Activities

The treatment aims at preparing the child to manage his/her routine activities and improve social, communication and behavioral skills.

Diet Therapy

We help with a modified, or a systematic diet plan to help with the right kind of nutrition to overcome certain sensory processing difficulties.
